All of our fabric and wallpaper is printed just for you, one order at a time. Nothing sits on a shelf waiting, and nothing is mass-produced.

Start with a sample. Tape the wallpaper to the wall, drape the fabric over the chair it's meant for, and see how the color and texture look in morning and evening light. Most decisions settle themselves within a few days.

Once your order arrives, we want you to love it. If you don't, for any reason, let us know. This applies to all retail orders. You have 60 days from delivery to reach out, and we'll reprint your items or you can return them for a refund. Your choice.

To start, email connect@vintagebotanica.com with your order number and a quick note about why you'd like a reprint or return. If something arrived damaged or misprinted, please include photos.

Hung wallpaper and cut fabric are still eligible, as long as the product comes back to us. Every reprint or refund requires the original product to be returned. Return shipping is yours to cover unless the product is defective, in which case we cover it.

Refunds go back to your original payment method within 5 business days after we receive your return. They cover the purchased items plus tax. If the product is defective, we also refund your original shipping.

We currently ship within the United States, including Alaska, Hawaii, and US territories. We ship to APO and FPO addresses and to PO boxes where the carrier allows it.

  • Standard shipping is $9.99 per order for fabric and wallpaper
  • Production takes 5 to 10 business days
  • Transit takes 2 to 7 business days after your order ships
  • Most orders arrive 2 to 3 weeks after you place them

Delivery to Alaska, Hawaii, US territories, and military addresses may take longer than the estimate above.

You’ll get tracking by email as soon as your order ships. Orders with multiple items may arrive in more than one package as different products are printed in different locations.

Weather, holidays, and carrier delays happen. If your order is running past the estimate, get in touch and we’ll look into it.

Lost or missing packages

If tracking shows delivered but your package isn’t there, check around your delivery spot and with neighbors first. Packages often turn up within a day. If it’s still missing, email us and we’ll open a claim with the carrier. If the carrier confirms the package is lost, we’ll reprint your order or refund it.

Carved acanthus scrollwork spirals inward through curled and lobed terminals. The source is a painted wood panel inside the Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg in Alsace, a medieval fortress destroyed, abandoned for centuries, and restored at the beginning of the twentieth century. The panel is one small detail within that much larger story. Translated here to wallpaper and fabric by the yard, the design keeps the diagonal primary spines that organize the composition, with the terminals appearing at three different scales across the 76-inch repeat. This is architectural-scale pattern, the kind that holds across a double-height space or reads clearly on a feature wall.

Greyed slate blue ground with linen-coloured scrollwork. The slate is soft and muted, sitting between blue and grey. The linen accent is warm cream. Medium contrast — the slate is lighter than deep jewel-toned grounds, so the pattern reads more gently across a room. A third value picks out interior curves within the scrollwork, keeping the forms articulated on a ground that gives them little help.

The Source

The Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg has spent nearly nine centuries being built, fought over, destroyed, abandoned and brought back to life.

Raised as a mountain fortress in the Middle Ages, it was besieged, pillaged and burned in 1633 during the Thirty Years' War. For more than two centuries afterward, its ruins stood above the Alsatian plain.

In 1899, the city of Sélestat offered the ruins to Kaiser Wilhelm II. He commissioned the Berlin architect Bodo Ebhardt to restore the castle completely. Ebhardt worked from the fragments on the site, from archive documents, and from other fortified castles of the period where the record ran out — and he designed a set of restoration marks: every replaced block carries one, a different symbol for each year of work, so the reconstruction could still be told from what survived. Between 1900 and 1908 the fortress rose again from the ridge.

Today Haut-Koenigsbourg is a castle you can walk through: across the drawbridge, into the courtyards, up the spiral stairs, through the furnished rooms and the armouries and the towers.

Somewhere inside it, on a painted teal ground, is the carved acanthus panel that became this design. Its maker and its date are not identified in the available record.

It was photographed there in August 2025 and translated into pattern.

The castle survived. This is one small piece of what you can still find inside it.

The Specifications

  • Source: Carved wood panel with painted ground, installed in the interior of the Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg.
  • Photograph: Kat McDivitt, August 2025. Personal photograph.
  • Location: Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg, 67600 Orschwiller, Alsace, France.
  • Date: Not identified. The available record does not date this panel or name its carver. The castle itself was restored between 1900 and 1908, with interior fittings continuing until the First World War.
  • Repeat: 24.0 in horizontal by 76.0 in vertical. Straight match. Measured from the production TIFF, 7200 by 22800 px at 300 ppi, sRGB.
  • Motif scale: Grand-scale. The terminals appear at three different scales within the 76-inch repeat; the largest measures approximately 18 in from spine to terminal.
  • Layout: Straight match. Diagonal primary spines organize the composition. Left and right edges align at the same vertical position; adjacent lengths hang level.
  • Values: Three flat printed values: ground, scroll face, and a darker contour value following selected interior curves. No gradients and no modelled shading.
  • Edge: Clean. The scrollwork meets the ground at defined edges. The source carving is modelled, bevelled and undercut; the printed design reduces that depth to flat value.

The Wallpaper

Peel and Stick

A self-adhesive paper with a linen-like texture. The texture shows through the print and gives the color a quiet movement, most noticeable across a full wall. It goes up without paste and comes down more easily when the room is ready for something new.

  • Install: Peel and stick, no paste
  • Walls: Smooth, clean, fully cured paint
  • For: Rentals and rooms where paste-free installation or easier removal matters

Clay-Coated

A traditional unpasted paper with a smooth, soft matte finish. Color sits cleanly on the clay surface, so the finest lines of the pattern stay sharp. It gives a room the familiar finish of traditionally hung wallpaper.

  • Install: Unpasted; paste is applied to the back of each panel before hanging
  • For: Traditional installations, including full rooms and powder rooms away from direct water

Start with a sample. Tape it to the wall and live with it for a few days, in morning light and again in the evening. Watch how the color and surface settle into the room, then choose the paper you'll live with.
